Best Trends MCPs and Skills (2026)

A trends MCP is a server that lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor pull real trend data mid-conversation instead of guessing from memory. The best trends MCP depends on your question: Rising Trends MCP finds what is rising with absolute US search volume, HasData and SerpApi return the live Google Trends 0-100 index, and Trends MCP covers TikTok, Reddit and Amazon in one connection. We checked nine servers and skills on November 5, 2026, each on its own repo or docs.

Key takeaways:

  • Rising Trends MCP is the only one here that finds rising trends without a starting keyword and answers in monthly searches, not a 0-100 index.
  • For the live Google Trends index, use HasData's Google Trends MCP (100 free calls a month) or SerpApi's MCP (250 free searches a month).
  • For social and shopping signals, Trends MCP reads Google, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit and Amazon through one connector, from 100 free requests a month.
  • The market moved from servers to connectors. "mcp server" fell 18% in a year to 49,500 US searches a month, while "mcp connectors" grew 646% (Rising Trends, September 2026).
  • Free and open source options exist (Google News Trends MCP, Reddit MCP), but they return lists, not history.

Let's get into it.

How we picked these trends MCPs

Every entry below is a real MCP server you can install today. We opened each one's GitHub repo or official docs on November 5, 2026 and recorded what it returns, where the data comes from, the price on the vendor's own pricing page and the date of the last update. We dropped anything with no commit in the past 12 months, and anything we could not verify.

Three things separate these servers more than anything else:

  • Index or volume. Most trends MCPs wrap Google Trends, which only gives a relative 0-100 score. A few return absolute monthly searches.
  • Keyword first or discovery first. Most servers need you to name the keyword. Only a couple can answer "what is rising in skincare?" on their own.
  • Hosted or local. Hosted servers take a URL and a sign-in. Local ones run on your machine through uvx or npx.

If you are new to the protocol, the official Model Context Protocol docs explain how clients and servers talk. For the non-MCP route to the same data, see our guide to the Google Trends API and its alternatives.

Why trend MCPs are worth setting up now

We track MCP searches ourselves, and the curve tells the story. "mcp server" went from about 20 US searches a month to 74,000 within a few months of late 2024, then settled.

US monthly searches for mcp server: near zero until late 2024, 74,000 at peak, 49,500 in September 2026

Source: Rising Trends database, US monthly Google searches, data through September 2026

The chart shows "mcp server" at 49,500 monthly searches in September 2026, down from its 74,000 peaks. That dip is not people losing interest. The searches moved to the next layer: ready-made connectors and apps that run inside Claude and ChatGPT.

One-year search growth: webmcp +5,724%, mcp connectors +646%, mcp apps +400%, mcp server -18% (Sep 2026)

Source: Rising Trends database, one-year change in US monthly searches, September 2026

"mcp connectors" grew 646% in a year and "webmcp" about 58x. People no longer want to host a server. They want a URL they paste once. Every hosted entry below works that way. You can follow these terms on the public mcp server trend page or in our AI trends report.

The table compares data, discovery and price. Rising Trends sits first because it is the only one built around finding trends, but the others win on live index data, social signals and price.

1. Rising Trends MCP

What it does: answers trend questions with real numbers from the Rising Trends database: 65,106 trends with five years of monthly US search volume, plus trending product categories, fast-growing websites, new apps and 70+ mega trends. You ask "which supplements are growing fastest?" and the assistant calls the right tool.

Tools: 12, all read-only: find_trends, search_trends, get_trend, get_trends, list_mega_trends, get_mega_trend, find_products, find_websites, find_apps, list_categories, plus search and fetch for ChatGPT deep research. find_trends filters by category, type, growth window (3m to 5y) and minimum volume, and sorts by growth, volume or date added.

Data source: US Google search volume, monthly. The latest month in the data is September 2026.

Price: included in Pro, a one-time $97 payment for lifetime access (read on our pricing page today), which also covers the Trends API if you want the same data in your own scripts.

Install: paste https://mcp.risingtrends.co/mcp as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT and sign in. Claude Code and Cursor use the same URL with an API key header. Full steps are on the Rising Trends MCP page.

Where it falls short: the data is monthly and US only, there is no Google Trends 0-100 index, no daily or hourly data and no TikTok or Reddit volume. If you need any of those, pair it with one of the entries below.

The page above lists the setup for each client. Here is what a session looks like with today's data.

Example conversation (Rising Trends MCP in Claude, data through September 2026)

You

Which MCP topics are people searching for more this year?

search_trends({ "q": "mcp" })

Claude

US monthly searches, September 2026, growth over one year:

  • "webmcp": 9,900 a month, up 5,724%, and still accelerating.
  • "mcp apps": 3,600 a month, up 400%.
  • "claude mcp": 5,400 a month, up 86%.
  • "mcps": the biggest term at 165,000 a month, flat on the year.
  • "mcp server": 49,500 a month, down 18%, momentum slowing.

The growth is in apps and in-browser tools, not in the server term itself.

You

Has "mcp server" peaked?

get_trend({ "name_or_slug": "mcp server" })

Claude

It looks like a plateau, not a collapse. Searches were near zero until November 2024, reached 74,000 a month from April to July 2025, dipped to 40,500 in December 2025 and climbed back to 74,000 in March and April 2026. September 2026 sits at 49,500: down 33% over six months and 18% over a year. Status is stable, momentum slowing. It belongs to the "MCP Servers" mega trend.

Every number above came back from the two tool calls. Try it with your own niche. These prompts work as-is:

Copy-paste prompts

  1. "Using Rising Trends, find the fastest-growing trends in Skincare over the last year with at least 5,000 monthly searches."
  2. "Which mega trends grew the most in the last year? Show combined searches and three example trends each."
  3. "Find trending supplement product categories under $50 with their monthly sales."

2. Trends MCP

What it does: pulls trend data from many platforms through five tools: time series, growth, top trends, context (what people post about a keyword) and top posts. Its docs say it reads live data from 27 platforms, including Google Search, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit and Amazon.

Data source: mostly a 0-100 index per platform, with absolute volume where the source has it, and about five years of weekly history.

Price: 100 free requests a month, Starter at $19 a month and Pro at $49 a month on the Trends MCP pricing page, plus one-off credit packs from $15.

Install: add https://www.trendsmcp.ai/mcp as a connector and sign in, or use the API-key URL in Cursor. Setup per client is in the Trends MCP docs. There is no public code repo; we checked the live docs and pricing.

Where it beats Rising Trends: TikTok, Reddit and Amazon signals, weekly granularity and a live "rising on Google now" board. If social data matters, this is the one.

3. HasData Google Trends MCP

What it does: one tool that returns Google Trends interest over time, interest by region, and rising or top related queries and topics, as JSON. It compares up to five terms and supports Google Images, News, Shopping and YouTube search.

Data source: Google Trends, scraped by HasData. Values are the familiar 0-100 index.

Price: 1,000 free credits a month, which buys 100 Google Trends calls. Paid plans start at $49 a month.

Install: a hosted URL, https://mcp.hasdata.com/mcp?apis=google_trends, with an x-api-key header, or the npm and PyPI launchers. The HasData Google Trends MCP repo was last updated on October 29, 2026.

Where it beats Rising Trends: the live Google Trends index for any keyword, any country and short windows like the past seven days.

4. SerpApi MCP

What it does: a general search-results server. One search tool reaches any SerpApi engine, and SerpApi's engine list includes Google Trends, Google Trends Trending Now and Google Trends Autocomplete, next to Google, YouTube, Amazon and eBay results.

Data source: live search results and Google Trends through SerpApi.

Price: 250 free searches a month, then $25 a month for 1,000 searches, per the SerpApi pricing page.

Install: hosted at https://mcp.serpapi.com/mcp with your key as a Bearer header, as a Claude Desktop bundle, or self-hosted with uv. The SerpApi MCP repo was updated on November 4, 2026.

Good for: checking a trend against what Google shows right now (shopping results, news, People Also Ask) in the same chat. We cover the plain API route in our Google Trends alternatives guide.

5. DataForSEO MCP

What it does: the v3 server lets the assistant read DataForSEO's API documentation and call any endpoint you have access to. That includes their Google Trends API, their own DataForSEO Trends data, Google Ads keyword volume and SERP data.

Data source: DataForSEO APIs. The keyword volume endpoints return absolute numbers; the Google Trends ones return the index.

Price: pay as you go with a $50 minimum top-up and no subscription, per the DataForSEO pricing page.

Install: add https://mcp.dataforseo.com/v3/mcp (OAuth), or run npx dataforseo-mcp-server with your login. The DataForSEO MCP repo was updated on November 2, 2026.

Good for: SEO teams that want trend checks and keyword research in one place. If that is your use, our guide to Google Trends for SEO keyword research shows the workflow.

6. Google News Trends MCP

What it does: five tools that fetch Google News articles by keyword, location or topic, top stories, and the current trending search terms from Google Trends for a location. It can summarise articles with the client's model.

Data source: Google News and Google Trends RSS feeds.

Price: free and open source (MIT).

Install: uvx google-news-trends-mcp@latest in your client config, or pip install. The Google News Trends MCP repo was last updated on August 11, 2026.

Good for: "what is in the news and trending today?" questions at zero cost. It returns lists, not history or volume.

7. Apify MCP and the Apify agent skill

What it does: the Apify MCP server lets the assistant find and run ready-made scrapers from the Apify Store, including Apify's own Google Trends Scraper and scrapers for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Reddit. Apify also publishes a Claude-compatible skill, apify-ultimate-scraper, with a trend-research workflow for hashtags and keywords, in its Apify agent skills repo (updated October 30, 2026).

Data source: whatever the chosen scraper collects, so quality depends on the scraper.

Price: the free plan includes $5 of usage a month; Starter is $19 a month plus usage.

Install: pick your client in the configurator at https://mcp.apify.com and sign in with OAuth. The Apify MCP server docs list the options.

Good for: one-off pulls of social data at volume, like every TikTok post on a hashtag. This is the only real, public Claude skill for trend research we found that is maintained. We did not count older community skill files we could not verify.

8. Reddit MCP

What it does: reads Reddit through its public API: front page, subreddit info, and hot, new, top and rising posts, plus post details and comments.

Data source: Reddit's public API, via the redditwarp library. No account needed.

Price: free and open source (MIT).

Install: uvx mcp-server-reddit, pip install mcp-server-reddit or Smithery. The Reddit MCP repo was last updated on June 10, 2026.

Good for: hearing how people talk about a trend once you know it is rising. Rising Trends tells you that "webmcp" grew 58x; a subreddit's rising posts tell you what builders complain about.

9. Exa MCP

What it does: web search, page fetching and multi-step research for agents. It is not a trends server, but it answers the question every trend raises next: why is this growing?

Data source: Exa's own web index.

Price: $10 of free credit every month, then pay as you go, per the Exa pricing page.

Install: add https://mcp.exa.ai/mcp or install the Exa plugin in Claude. The Exa MCP repo was updated on November 3, 2026.

Good for: pairing with a data MCP. Ask Rising Trends what is rising, then ask Exa for the launch posts and articles behind it.

Which trends MCP should you use?

Match the server to the question you ask most.

Which trends MCP fits the job: 6 servers matched to their best use, from Rising Trends MCP to Exa

Source: risingtrends.co, based on the entries above, November 2026

Most people end up with two: one data server and one context server. A common pair is Rising Trends for discovery and volume, plus HasData or SerpApi when they need a live Google Trends view of one keyword. Use the card above as a starting point.

  • Founders and product researchers: Rising Trends MCP. It finds trends you did not know to ask about and adds products, sites and apps. Pair it with our trending products list when you are browsing without a chat.
  • Content and social teams: Trends MCP or Apify for TikTok and Reddit, Reddit MCP for free.
  • SEO teams: DataForSEO or SerpApi, with HasData for the index.
  • Developers on a budget: Google News Trends MCP and Reddit MCP cost nothing.

If you are still choosing a trend tool outside chat, our list of Exploding Topics alternatives compares the web apps.

How to set up a trends MCP in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

The steps are the same for every hosted server.

  1. Copy the server URL from its docs (for Rising Trends, https://mcp.risingtrends.co/mcp).
  2. Claude: Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Paste the URL and sign in.
  3. ChatGPT: open the plugins page, add a custom MCP server, paste the URL and choose OAuth.
  4. Claude Code or Cursor: add the URL to your MCP config, with an API key header if the server uses one.
  5. Ask a first question that names the tool's job, like "find the fastest-growing trends in pet products".

Local servers (Google News Trends, Reddit) go into the same config file as a command such as uvx, instead of a URL.

FAQ

What is a trends MCP?

A trends MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that gives an AI assistant tools for trend data: search volume, Google Trends scores, trending lists or social posts. The assistant decides when to call a tool and answers with the numbers it gets back.

Is there an official Google Trends MCP?

We found none run by Google as of November 2026. Google's own Google Trends API is still in alpha with limited access, so Google Trends MCPs today, like HasData and SerpApi, are built by third parties.

Which trends MCP is free?

Google News Trends MCP and Reddit MCP are free and open source. HasData, SerpApi, Trends MCP, Exa and Apify have free monthly tiers, from 100 calls to $10 of credit.

Can an MCP tell me what is trending without a keyword?

Some can. Rising Trends MCP ranks trends by growth in any category, Trends MCP and Google News Trends MCP return trending boards, and Reddit MCP returns rising posts. Google Trends wrappers need a keyword. For the method behind spotting trends early, read our guide to trend forecasting.
