Errors

Every error from the REST API has the same shape. MCP tools return the same codes in their error result.

missing_api_key 401

No Authorization header, or it isn't a Bearer token starting with rt_live_.

Fix: Send Authorization: Bearer rt_live_… on every request.

invalid_api_key 401

The key doesn't exist.

Fix: Check for a typo, or create a key on the API & MCP page in your account.

revoked_api_key 401

The key was revoked.

Fix: Create a new key on the API & MCP page in your account.

subscription_required 403

The account has no active Pro membership.

Fix: Get Pro at risingtrends.co/pricing. Connected assistants keep working once the membership is active.

invalid_parameter 400

A query parameter is missing, unknown or out of range (for example page above 10, limit above 50, or a category that doesn't exist). The response's details field names the parameter.

Fix: Fix the parameter. GET /categories lists every valid category and type. Invalid requests don't count toward your quota.

not_found 404

No trend or mega trend with that slug.

Fix: Use /trends/search?q=… to find the right slug. Not-found requests don't count toward your quota.

rate_limit_exceeded 429

More than 30 requests in a minute.

Fix: Wait the number of seconds in the Retry-After header.

daily_quota_exceeded 429

300 counted requests today (UTC), shared by your API key and connected assistants.

Fix: Resets at 00:00 UTC; Retry-After says when.

monthly_quota_exceeded 429

1,500 counted requests this month (UTC), shared by your API key and connected assistants.

Fix: Resets on the 1st of the month UTC. Contact hello@risingtrends.co if you need more.

internal_error 500

Something failed on our side.

Fix: Retry after a few seconds. If it keeps happening, email hello@risingtrends.co with the request_id.
